Do you decorate your home for the holidays?

It looks like Christmas threw up at our house. First outside, we have all white lights because I think they are prettier. We have icicle lights all along the front and side of our house that faces the street.

We also have one of those white metal trees that has spirals of white lights that looks really pretty lit up. We also have a lighted snowman on one side of the driveway. At the entry way, we have a large pine wreath with red berries that I love against the brick of our house.

On the actual door, we have a wreath made of big red and silver bells that jingle when you open the door. Last we have a few candy cans and a Santa sign by the light post at the end of the drive way. I guess I should confess that this weekend I think we are adding some white lights to the shrubs.

:) Inside, we decorate the living room, family room, kitchen, dining room and main bathroom. We have just one tree, but we have tons of other pretties sitting around on the shelves and tables. After teaching for 13 years, I have amassed lots of snowman and Santa decorations that I have displayed everywhere.

I have greenery along the mantle with stockings hanging over the fireplace. I have a set of 5 antique glass ornaments that I have on satin ribbons that hang in the foyer as people come into the house. They are one of my favorites.

I have a Christmas tapestry that I hang in the dining room. In the kitchen, I have Christmas towels, and I have these tin gingerbread men hanging on some of the cabinets. In the bathroom, I have some Christmas towels and a soap dispenser.

Additionally, I have snowman dishes and Christmas coffee mugs. I have a red tablecloth with white snowflakes, and a beautiful blue and white and silver plaid tablecloth and napkins with snowflakes on them too. I even have glasses with blue and white snowflakes.

We also have a special plate that is only used to put out cookies for Santa. Now as to the question why, I just can’t help myself! :) I love the Christmas season, and I’m always so excited to decorate and wrap gifts and bake cookies.

We decorate because of our grandson and also because my wife and I are both just big kids. We do use some of the inflatables and we put up quite a few lights but nothing compared to what we used to do before I got sick. Back then we did it to help a local charity raise money to buy Christmas gifts for needy children but now that I can’t handle two months of work trying to get everything up and on we just do it because we enjoy doing it.

We also enjoy looking at other people’s lights and we hope that they enjoy looking at ours. Here is a picture of our newest inflatable and a picture that you may have seen before of what our home used to look like at Christmas.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
