No. They do it because they're not actually typing "Thanks". They're just clicking that stupid little button that says "Say Thanks!

". It is among the most intellectually challenged decisions the Askville POTB have made recently.

Oh, that's right! Thanks Mr. Itty. I forgot about the "Thanks" button.

Goes to show you I don't use it. Hugs grandmabx 6 months ago .

It acknowledges they at least read your answer, and oh yeah what MrItty said.

How are you. I'm so used to typing in an answer I totally forgot about the "thanks" button. Grandmabx 6 months ago .

Doing OK,and I don't really mind the thanks it shows at least they glanced at my answer weather they liked it or not is another story altogether.

Sometimes it leaves you wondering if the "Thanks" means that you helped them. Or "Thanks" as in thanks but that is not the answer I was looking for" .

That's how it makes me feel. It's like "Gee thanks for nothing" grandmabx 6 months ago .

SOME PEOPLE NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR ANSWERS! That is rude and I guess it shows that they are just trying to show off how smart their questions are.

No. I do that frequently to show that I value their input.

No. I figure it's better than nothing at all.

No. When someone answers a question, the default askville setting sends them an e-mail with the answer and a button to click that posts the "thanks" message.

Sometimes, I believe, it's because they want to acknowledge that you answered the question, but perhaps because they disagree with the premise given and don't want to start something simply thank the answerer for responding. I'm sure there are probably many reasons people just say thanks. At least they have made the effort!

Many don't do anything! And they could just ignore the answer, but they have taken the time to either write the word or use the button. Let's appreciate the little things.

I can't even get an automatic "Thanks", I guess. Interesting...

Isn't there an automatic thanks button. I guess some think it's appropriate, rather than say nothing when they really have no specific response.

I don't think anyone "can win" here. No matter what any does or says is going to tick off somebody or even a whole group of people. Like how it it that you ask a question, get one single answer and that one answer get's five "helpful" for being a good answer?

.

Don't forget those who insult and then whine when they don't get a thank you for answering! Geesh. Like their comments are so special...especally when it is two days later.

Do you think the Amazon website should post a message saying Askville is not set up to answer questions Amazon.

Does it bug you when people ask questions on Askville that they, themselves could look up on Google and find an answer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
