I do occasionally eat canned fruits, but unless you buy a special kind, they are full of sugar which is not good for a diabetic. I also sometimes will buy fresh fruit, but unfortunately I have a bad habit of putting them in the bottom bin of my refrigerator and then I forget about them and they ruin. I buy frozen veggies all the time and hardly ever buy fresh veggies.
I love to take a bag of frozen veggies out of the freezer, zap it in the microwave, add butter and salt and then Yummy! :-).
I never use canned anything I just don't like the flavor. I use fresh when it is available and frozen if something isn't available. I am real big on eating veggies so they don't stay around long enough to go bad.My husband and son takes care of the fruit since I'm not a big fruit eater.
There are almost no frozen fruit being sold here, except in wholesalers which are mainly use as ingredients instead of being eaten as they are. People don't eat frozen fruit here because we have fresh fruits all year around, imported and local. Canned fruits are quite popular, but people don't use canned fruits as fruits but as dessert or dessert fillings.
Because I am used to fresh fruits, I don't think I can eat frozen fruits unless they're made into dessert, shakes, or juice. Fresh fruits have natural crispness and sweetness that is missing from frozen fruits.
I think that the frozen veggies and fruits are just as good as fresh. They taste good and they seem to hold onto their vitamins and minerals. We buy veg-all for the baby and we buy it frozen, put it in a zip-lock bag and add some water a few shakes and it is perfect temperature for her.
A great easy healthy meal for her.
I use frozen fruit generally for smoothies, cocktails or to add fruit to milkshakes so that doesn't bother me. I regard fresh and canned fruit about the same though. I buy both since I usually only make one shopping trip a month.
The fresh is used until its gone or spoiled and then the canned gets used. I also noticed I tend to use canned for dinner as a side and fresh as snacks for some reason. As far as vegetables I think they all have their uses.
I get frozen mixed like stir fry veggies for certain meals, and then keep fresh for everything else. Canned I like to keep just for emergencies, plus I prefer certain veggies canned, like corn. It tastes different. As everything in Alaska is primarily shipped here, fresh produce likely has about the same nutritional content as the canned and frozen so I feel fine about it.
If I had my way though, we'd grow our own. Just don't have space for a year round stock.
I like fresh and frozen fruit mostly. I consider them about the same since the frozen ones will be frozen at peak freshness. The only frozen fruit that doesn't work really well (at least for me) is strawberries.
When they defrost, they get mushy. For veggies, I do primarily frozen for the above reason and because they last longer. I am often guilty of not using veggies that I buy in enough time and they go bad.
This is a waste of money. Frozen veggies can last much longer and have a fresh taste (assuming they aren't so old as to have freezer burn). I do eat some canned fruit but prefer the other two.
I hate canned veggies. I think they taste awful. Plus canned stuff needs preservatives and no one needs to eat more of that.
I usually buy fresh but also now get the steamfresh vegis also. Canned vegis are full of salt and I found this out from the Doctor. Frozen fruit is good for drinks but I think loses some nutritional value to defrost and eat.
Canned fruit has to much sugar. I go to the grocery and buy what I will eat in the next couple of days fresh.
