Do you think there are "cliques" at Mahalo Answers and Conundrumland?

OK, I don't usually answer this type of question, for the simple fact that I answer CL questions and Answers questions and I do *see* cliques but I try to take that thought from my mind. And you know what, its not the questioners fault! Its not the people who answer at CL either, there are very few of us sustaining an entire site.

Hear that, there are very very few users who maintain a whole site and my hat goes off to those that continue to strive there ( yes, this asker is one who I admire for her dedication and even though we've crossed swords at CL I am grateful for each and every question you pose ) The cliques at Answers are getting worse. The cliques at CL are getting worse. I do not mean those at CL do it intentionally because us answerers are few and far between.....but I'm not convinced the same can be said for Answers ( sorry guys!) I blame sister sites and revenue share for dividing this community.

I know the revenue share is good for everyone so how about we stop dividing everyone so far between sites...its hard to answer and vote for questions when I log in 10 times in 10 minutes to DO anything! We have good people ( our brown and black belts for sure ) who *would* spend more time at Answers or CL if they could! Join up the sites, stop dividing the community and we will see these cliques disappear into dust, where they belong!

Edit - I don't think there is any concerted effort against CL questioners but I could be wrong, I just don't *see* that but they may...how horrible that some of Mahalo members feel discriminated against! 2nd edit - and how bad must it be for you to ASK this question? I value your time and effort, I really do!

I think there are cliques but they are cliques of familiarity. We can plainly see that each separate site ConundrumLand included has its own community of users and those users know each other and have developed relationships of real knowledge of understanding of each other. As we all know in reading text based answers without the inflections and other nuances of vocal communication it takes some time to get used to what each person is trying to say with their words.

Sometimes if we do not know a person, or have had a lot of question to answer contact, misunderstandings of perceived meaning in word choice, sentence structure, even punctuation etc. I think it is because of this "regular user" familiarity that the sister sites and Mahalo Answers might seem cliquey when in reality the users who are the most active on each of the sister sites and the most active users on Mahalo Answers are just naturally more able to understand intricacies of the individuals text based communications of the users who are the most active within each of the sites. Maybe naively so I feel if anyone were to spend some quality time letting the regular users of any of the sister sites or Mahalo Answers know who they really are by answering more questions in any of those sites the communities of those sites would develop a more accurate understanding of their answers. I believe once the period "getting to know" is over then that user(s) would be more accepted and be in the "clique".

So I see it as a new user or a limited user just joining one of these web communities could perceive each site of Mahalo, its sister sites, and ConundrumLand as cliquey but it is not hard to perceive them as just separate communities where the regular users of those web communities really get to know each other quite well and have developed a deeper understanding of the answers, questions, and personalities of their regular users through actually spending more time together.

I can't say yes or no to the clique part here on Mahalo because I don't pay attn to who is winning what answers where. I don't know that I have ever gotten a best answer on CL but I don't answer as many questions there because it slows my computer down a lot. I don't know why, it doesn't look like the site is one that is substantially different from here but it does.

Some of the sister sites do too. But I think almost every community I have dealt with in my internet days has had some type of discussion over cliques. It's the nature of people.

Whether it exists or not, some people will believe it does, others won't and once the conversation takes place many will begin to think about it. Personally I answer questions based on what interests me not based on what site it is on. I'm not sure I could ID who is even on CL.

I can ID who is asking sister site questions on a given day because they always come in batches related the same subject at the same time and they seem to talk about a friend, an uncle, a cousin which makes the question seem more forced than natural.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
