The usual conversation about marijuana always seems to focus on allowing 'da gubbermint' to control its growth, use, & taxation (yet another 'sin' tax). Why? NONE of that changes what it DOES.
It's got seeds, it grows wild in certain parts of N. America, it's been in use since human discovery. It's a relaxant.
It really does little harm, if any, unlike Valium or whiskey. It's more like a massage, a glass of good vino or soothing music. So what's the deal?
How is it that we Americans have allowed ourselves to be so completely brainwashed that we just bend over for all the propaganda I just don't get how a nation that prides itself on being the Best at Everything can be so willfully blind - about pot, about teen sex (YOU did it! ), and about other things that are just part of the human condition, no matter how many expensive, almost laughable, attempts to use LAW to change them! Spare me the pseudo-science,too -- I AM a scientist.

Ironically, company policies on employee use aside, the government's angle has been to control "Interstate Commerce. " Thus, to deal in marijuana, one would need to obtain a government stamp, which the government never issues (but they will keep an eye on you if you ask, which is a cheap way to get bodyguards. ) The problem with this tactic is that the Federal Government may Constitutionally monitor commerce between states--what if I'm not leaving California with it?
The second is what if there's no commerce at all: That tree out there is for MY use and no one else's. While the government won't take my word for it, the way this neophyte read the Constitution, they'd kind of have to, wouldn't they? Wouldn't they need to actually catch me giving or selling it to someone else (much like the Revenuers handled Moonshiners in the thirties) to be able to prosecute.
No soapbox I promise what it comes down to is GREED. If we would legalize pot, this country could be out of debt. I have always said when is the last time you heard of " a Husband has to many bong loads & beat his wife"...its always booze or other hard drugs....yeah yeah.....pot leads to harder drugs..BS....it may on a certain amount but that qualifies them moving into harder territory if they drink or do persription meds.....I smoked pot with quite a few of my friends......for many years..haven't smoked it in years, don't drink, don't smoke.....its a great natural herb for people with cancer and so many other painful illnesses.
I used not only for party purposes, but also for PMS & sleeping....because I had no drug induced hanover the next day.....Yeah all the FDA approves booze, Pharmaceuticals and everything else...but a good herb that could not only help many but CURE all of our debt.......
1 You don't sound like a scientist. You sound like a regular druggie. You are the one with pseudo science and soapboxes.
Some of the rest of us have to clean up the mess and detox/rehabilitate the youth. So you won't be fooling me.

Excuse me a minute.......Seriously though, I see no problem with growing pot for personal use. There should be amount limits, as I do not agree with growth for sale. Back in the stone ages, when I was younger, I smoked weed.
I held down a job, paid my bills, never missed an appointment or family gathering. I never broke the law - never drove under the influence, robbed a gas station, broke into anyones house, or snatched a purse. Crap - when I was high on weed the worst thing I did was sit in a chair for hours listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and eating 50 pound bags of Oreo cookies!
Then one day, I quit. That was it. No detox, no horrible withdrawal, no rehab, no big deal.
There are a lot worse things out there that are legal - booze, prescription drugs, that get misused - resulting in killing yourself or innocent others. Nobody gets up in arms about them! .

3 Well it works in Alaska...so I guess I am not against it even though I have not and shall not ever try it myself. Alaska has allowed it many many years for self use only. And, I think they still do!Mugwa.....Annlee .

And what percent of the world's corn crop comes from the us.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
