(not volunteermatch.Com) I would like to start volunteering about once a month with my daughters...I think it would be a good oppurtunity for all of us to give back for all we have. Does anyone have any recommendations of how to find volunteer oppurtunities? Asked by MomOnTheGo 47 months ago Similar questions: volunteer find kids community volunteermatch Family > Parenting.

You could try these places... Local Library - they might have certain community reach programs you and your girls can take part in, such as tutoring kids etc Nursing homes - they are always looking for volunteers to entertain their residents. You and your daughters can do many things with them from playing cards to playing bingo with them. Alzheimer's home - same Assisted Living - same, but these people are usually in better health than those in the nursing homes, so you can also do more physical things with these residents such as going on morning walks etc.Look up the storical Buildings Restoration Society in your town.
These people help restore and repair buildings of important historical importance in the town. You and your girls can help them by making their letters (they provide you with envelopes and papers) and then walking around your neighborhood putting the letters on the house doorsteps. Habitat for Humanity - Absolutely great cause!
You didn't mention how old your girls were, which would of course play a factor in what things they can do, but if they are old enough, you all can go downtown one Saturday morning and help the Habitat people build houses for the underprivileged. I have personally done all these things listed above, so I know its definitely possible. You can also do other things such as set up a Toy Drive (really a Christmas thing), and wrap boxes in holiday wrapping paper and put them around offices asking people to donate toys and at the end of the drive, you and your girls can take the toys to a home for orphan children.
Other things would be looking up the local Kiwanis club in your town. Hope these suggestions help. Enjoy and make sure to smile when you do these things...it will make the work much easier :) Sources: my experience .
I enjoy volunteering immensely. I have been working on the restoration of our local park for about five years now. I run a web site about the park, and I record the restoration efforts.
eaglelandingpark.org/ The best part about it has been that I've met so many wonderful people. Or maybe the best part about it has been that I've learned so much about ecology and native plants. Or maybe the best part about it is that I feel a deep connection to the land, now.
I can't decide which is the best aspect. If I didn't need money, I would quit working and just volunteer full time. It is certainly an activity to be shared with children of all ages.
Anyone can play a part, with the proper guidance. It looks like the Chicago Parks District has a program similar to ours, where you could become the steward of a section of a park. (My park is small, so I am the steward of the whole park.) chicagoparkdistrict.com/index.cfm/fuseac... If you don't live near Chicago, talk to your local Parks Department.
I'm sure they need volunteers to clean, maintain, and restore local parks. Be sure to coordinate with them so that you are not working at cross purposes with other volunteers or maintenance workers. The best part about working in your local park is that you can see and benefit from the results.
Every day, I walk past a giant fir tree that I planted as a tiny seedling when I was a kid. It would be nice for your kids to come back to the neighborhood twenty, thirty, or fourty years from now and visit the trees they planted. Volunteer suggestions Check out an ECFE (early childhood family education), a crisis nursery, any local church, or an AA meeting. Lots of these places need child care volunteers, and you can bring your children with.
Check for the local Food Bank or Second Harvest in your area... They always need volunteers to sort donations and hand out food boxes. There are usually multiple Clothing Banks as well our town has one run by the battered women's shelter, one run by the YWCA to provide interview clothes to women, several run by local churches (you don't have to be a member of the church to help out), and Salvation Army. Often the animal shelter needs volunteers to help with the animal adoptions and missing animal reports.
There are teen support groups to help get kids on the right track to be self-supporting. Your local Child Protective Services often needs volunteers to help run events for foster kids. Big Brothers/Big Sisters can also use volunteers aside from becoming a Big (mentors, special events, and homework helpers).
There are just so many options - and we've done most of them ;) This is a great idea, you go Mom! Sources: Personal experience .
I volunteer at.......... my boys school 3 to 4 days a week. I want to give back to the people who have my children more hours a day than I do ~ TEACHERS! I love it and my kids love seeing me there.
The teachers appreciate it so much. But it is I who appreciate's what they do, so much! TO ALL THE TEACHER'S IN THE WORLD ~ THANK YOU!.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
