Does anyone know how to get medical 'super glue' out of hair?

My son had a scalp injury a few weeks ago that couldn't be closed with stitches, so it was closed up with the medical glue. It worked great on the cut, but now he has these bits of glue left in the surrounding hair that refuse to come out. I don't want to cut it if I don't have to because he will have a huge bald spot in a very visible place.

Any suggestions? Asked by BarbieM 40 months ago Similar questions: medical 'super glue' hair Lifestyle > Beauty.

There are a few different ways you can go about removing the glue. First, try a little dish washing soap directly on the glue. Use a toothbrush to gently work the hair and try to pull the glue out.

He will have to rinse his hair really well afterwards, but this method worked like a charm for me. You can also try mayonaisse or vegetable oil the same way, but the dish detergent worked best with my own experience. There is also a product called bond remover available at your local beauty supply house.

If you don’t have one near you, don’t hesitate to ask your normal stylist to let you borrow a dab of hers. I have included a link below. Glad your son is healing well, good luck with the glue.

Ok, so this should work Back in the 80's...they used the MOST horrible glue on the planets for hair extensions...I had a client that had so much glue in her hair...we had to cut out part of her hair....however what really worked for her...was peanut butter. Yeah its gross, but its worth a try. Get one thats really oily......

The only way, is with scissors. Just cut out the clumps of hair that have the glue on them. Your hair will grow back.

There is the suggestion that nail polish remover might get the glue out, if used as a kind of "shampoo," but I wouldn't suggest you try that. Just cut and re-style, if necessary. Sources: Personal opinion .

Nail Polish Remover It works for super glue removal from your finger's. If its not to close to the scalp. Try a little on the hair itself..

I would contact the Dr.s office they should know. If you can get to a pharmacy they always seem to have the answer, try calling them. They always answer my questions faster than the Dr.s office.

Didn't they send you home with instructions? It might tell you on his discharge papers.

How does wen compare to hair one from sally beauty supply.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
