Does it still annoy you that askville changed from quest coins to gold, which is not quantifiable?

While I certainly understand that... the idea of "GOLD" has more impact than "coins"--pennies as opposed to riches--the very use of "gold" is a constant (at least constant as long as I'm on-site) irritant to my writer's eye and ear. GOLD, to make sense, MUST have a quantifier--some sort of numerical--attached. Gold Coins.

Troy ounces. Treasure chests full of it! NMot just bare, bald gold.

I have 7,297 gold? GOLD WHAT! Why they made such a silly, un-needed, irritating change is beyond me--and there's certainly been plenty of discussion about it--they CAN'T be unaware of askviller opinion on the issue.

Are they saving face, or just have too much other stuff to do? Sources: Personal opinion NancyE's Recommendations Chocolate Kennedy Half Dollar Gold Coins 100 coins - 1lb bag When I did the search to find this product--I searched for GOLD COINS. NOt for "GOLD!" .

For several days after they made the change I made fun of their grammatical skills but it didn’t help. Yes it does annoy me because it sounds silly. It’s like having 2,345 jelly and it doesn’t make sense.

I thought if I picked at them enough on questions like this we would at least get some sort of reason for the change but the Askville team remained mum. At first some people speculated that it might have to do with Questville but then we found out that Questville was still a long way off so that couldn’t be it. I can mangle the English language with the best of them but this is so bad that it even gets to me and I really wish that they would at least explain themselves.

Yes sort of I especially dislike using phrases like 5 quest gold, it's just wrong. I would prefer something like quest pieces, or even a made up word or an ancient or archaic word for money or currency to the current "quest gold" that we have. Maybe something like Questos or Questas for the Askville currency..

Gold The only thing I can figure out for the change is that it has something to do with the future in Questville. Otherwise, the change from Quest Coins to "gold" doesn't really make any sense to me, grammatically. Although I did see a comment from one of the Askville staff that they felt it made grammatical sense to refer to it as "gold" rather than pieces or ounces or whatever. So, who knows--maybe my years as an English major were for naught!

Do we say "I've got silver" when we refer to our dimes (well, if we have OLD dimes) in our pocket? No, we might say silver dimes, but we don't refer to them as "silver". Or if we do have actual silver, we say, as you mentioned, how many ounces we have, not a number like 16 silver.

Right? My ears tell me it should either stay Quest Coins or be something other than "823 gold". That name just grates at my sense of grammar!

So yes, I guess it does still annoy me that they call it that, but I just ignore it now....you adjust and accept things that you really have no control over and cannot change, unless they are something that is hurting someone. I can't imagine that anyone would have complained about the previous name, that's why I assume that there is a reason for the name change for the future game plans in Questville. When that opens maybe a lot of things will be cleared up!

I personally... ....prefer "quest coins" or "gold coins" to "quest gold". Coins make more sense to me because we have quantities of coins. Saying "I have 500 gold coins" makes more sense than "I have 500 quest gold"!

I have no idea why this change has been made. As far as I see they suddenly adopted this terminology in their blog and throughout the site. Paradise.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
