There might be a reason your dog is licking it's paws. Dogs lick their paws for lots of reasons, have you examined them to make sure there's no problem? If that's your dog in your avatar it probably has hair in it's pads, check to make sure there's no mats in it.
Also check for things like stickers stuck in the hair or between it's toes. If the toenails are too long they can cause discomfort too. They can also do it out of boredom, some dogs will even lick so much they get sores.
I had a Doberman who used to do that to her front leg once in awhile, just lick it til it got a raw spot. If that's the case you just need to give them more to do or play with them more often.
My neighbor has a Maltese that is constantly licking one paw. The poor thing wears a sock all the time. She just keeps licking it raw.
I don’t know if they have asked the vet, but I guess the following gives a possible answer for both of you. It seemed to be the general consensus on the internet, that it is caused by allergies. You may want to look into feeding a quality food such as Nature’s Variety, Wellness, Ivo, or something else highly recommeded (nothing from a grocery store!) At least it is worth asking your vet about, and I think it is very important to do so.
Then you should be able to get treatment for your dog, and not have him feeling stressed. What does it mean that my dog is constantly licking his paws? The most common reason that we see dogs licking their paws, in particular the front paws, is due to inhalant allergies.
When people inhale different pollens from plants growing and blowing, people often have runny eyes and a runny nose. In pets with inhalant allergies, instead of runny eyes and a runny nose, pets have itchy skin. One of the common manifestations of this is licking the abdominal area and licking the feet.
Allergies such as this are not usually due to contact with the allergen, but due to inhalant of offending agents. As with people and allergies, problems such as this are not curable but potentially treatable. A physical examination with your veterinarian and discussion of the options for your pet is well warranted.

Lots of variables here! I would say generally speaking your dog should not like his/her feet 'alot'. You don't mention any of the circumstances, but foot licking should be checked out with the vet if you find it excessive.
Sometimes this is a nervous habit, like nailbiting. In fact, my brother has a dog right now who bites his nails. Sometimes this is related to allergies.Do the feet look red and irritated between the toes and footpads?
Could the dog be walking on something irritating? I assume you've checked for cuts, scrapes, stuff in the footpads. Licking top or bottom?
What does the skin look like? I've had dogs of all shapes and sizes, and the majority of the footlicking has been allergies. Sources: my brain .
Probably normal Furry dogs, you have to trim between the toes/bottom of paws I've heard. Sounds like you are already doing that. Outside of that, I've not seen too many dogs spend an unusual amount of time on their feet without nail/foot injury.
But every one is different, and all lick their paws sometimes. Some dogs have an oral fixation though. You might try a compressed rawhide bone, might take the attention off the feet.
Dogs do tend to be creatures of habit. It could be there was an injury at some point and it became part of the routine. If the dog has no pain I wouldn't worry about it much.
Of all things dogs lick, paws aren't so bad.
1 okbye, regarding your answer "There might be a reason your dog is licking it's paws. ":HI,Claws are trimmed. No matts, I keep the pads pretty short.
Nothing stuck in the pads, I feel them all the time. I give them a lot to keep them busy, and we have 3 dogs to play with eachother and the cat. They have many many dozens of toys, often walk for miles a day and I am rarely away for them for more than a couple hours at a time.
They seem to lick for a long time after eating and one of them likes to lick alot when he gets into bed at night. Thanks .
