Fishing question: Okay, I'm allergic to fish, so can't talk recipes and yummy, but anyone ever done "combat fishing"?

community.adn.com/mini_apps/vmix/player.... link gives the basics. I've never done it but a friend worked at Willow Park this summer and says it's wild. People getting hooked, going off for stitches, then coming back for more fishing.

If you go to just the adn.com link, some nice fishing pix there, too, tho' most are saying the runs this year haven't been up to snuff. In any case, if you've ever been involved in "combat fishing," what did you think of it. If not, would you try it?

Why? Fun question, so you don't have to get real serious on me. I did grow up in a family of hunters and fishermen, so have done some fishing, even if I couldn't eat what I caught, so appreciate the "zen" of it.

Feel free to add topics (sorry, loved the "gone fishing" one too much to resist) and answer wherever it pleases you to answer. Asked by Tundra 53 months ago Similar questions: Fishing question allergic fish talk recipes yummy combat fishing Sports & Recreation > Fishing.

I hate it! It goes against everything I like about fishing, which should be (according to me! ) peaceful, uncrowded, contemplative, non-competitive and at your own pace.

I have participated in fishing like this in special situations like the brief steelhead runs out of Lake Ontario into the spawning rivers and it stinks. That there is any etiquette to it is a joke. You could easily lose an eye!

And there isn't room for flycasting. So all in all, I'll skip it.

I have fished real close before - never heard it called Combat Fishing before I used to fish in the Kankakee River near a bridge in Demotte Indiana. In early april, when the Bullhead head upriver to do their thing, everyone goes to that spot to fish. The spots about 25 feet across and there would sometimes be 7 or 8 people there.

The "fish on" rule was in force. I don't remember anyone getting hooked in the face, but some clothes, yes. We would often mud vein gut and eat the Bullhead grilled right there.Also.

Later in the summer, we used to go all night fishing as boys - sleep under the bridge and fish and have a beer or two or wine or whatever. By then, the fishing was awful, so we were all alone. Sources: My answer .

1 Nope, never done it but this sounds interesting so I'll be watching for answers. Tundra- if you don't like an answer, you can always throw it back! (Oh, I'm so sorry. It's late, the puns are starting to leak out from my brain...) You might say I'm hooked!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
