Freshman grades are looked at and are counted the same as all other classes (with the exception of AP's) You are going to want to improve your class rank. . .
Most ivies have 2% or fewer students who weren't in the top 10% of their high school class, so being in the top 10% is all but a requirement unless your parents have given millions of dollars to the school. Try to improve your class rank slightly, make sure you get involved and take on leadership positions in clubs. Take a rigorous courseload and get good scores.
Ivies won't readily addmitt it out of a desire to appear wholistic, but standardized scores are very important. Probably the minimum stats you want to be in at least a competitive position are: top 10%, 30-31 ACT, 2000-2100 SAT. These stats represent about the 25th to 50th percentiles at most ivies, so even with them you still aren't entirely competitive (probably about a 30% chance average acceptance to most ivies).
Lastly, try to do something to set yourself apart (for example, I worked for a Congressman and had him write me a rec letter). Best of luck to you.
Your class rank is good! Top 20% (11% to be exact) They look at all of your semester grades and the rigor of your courses. They count it equally with the rest of your years!
Freshman year is still a year in high school, and they care about your grades in high school!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
