Government Cutbacks. Has anyone, who has been responsible for any corporation budget, ever ended with a surplus?

My guess is - just about everyone, or at least the majority, do the exact same thing. So when there are "cutbacks" for programs - even GOOD ones that you may support, they're more than likely "trimming the fat" - And regardless of what most politicians say ---- There's more fat than meat. You can call a budget cutter - anti-women, anti-teacher - anti-just about anything else. Most of the allegations simply aren't true, but they make good sound bites for politicians and political party followers.

I have had responsibility for *departmental* budgets, and project budgets. Never for a whole corporation. When I managed a departmental budget (around $3.1 million) we had to, by law, break even at the end of the fiscal year.

Two of the years I managed the budget, we ended up in the black by around $100,000. The third year we were just at even. You are correct - both years when we had the positive balance, we prepaid our suppliers to that our budget wouldn't be reduced.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
