Has anyone ever had fried pie? And how do you make them? I do know that some amish know how but I don't know any amish?

I don't exactly about fried pie, but I heard about fried chocolate, and I suspect it's similar. You put the pie filling (or chocolate) inside a dough ball and then fry that. The dough keeps everything together.

My mother made very good fried pies in Texas. But it is difficult to make them without burning them. The dough is shaped much like a pancake but folded over and the filling the same as for any pie - just not so much.

Each pie is an individual serving.

When I lived in Georgia I almost lived on them! I now make them as often as I can but now being a grown-up, I bake them. Aspx?

Amish Fry Pie RecipePrintable Version of Amish Fry Pie Recipe HerePIES9 c. Cake flour2 tbsp. Sugar1 tbsp.

Salt3 c. Shortening2 c. WaterThick fruit fillingShortening for deep fat fryingGLAZE8 lbs.

Powdered sugar1/2 c. Cornstarch1/3 c. Powdered milk1 tsp.

Vanilla extract2 1/2 c. Warm waterTo make pies, combine in large mixing bowl the flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until pieces are the size of small peas.

Add water a little at a time until the four mixture is moistened. Form into 4 balls. Divide each ball into 10 pieces and roll each piece into a circle.

Top one side of circle with filling and fold circle in half. Cramped edges to seal. Heat shortening; fry a few pieces at a time in deep fat until golden brown.

Cool on wire rack. Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, combine all glaze ingredients until smooth. While pies are still warm, dip them into glaze.

Allow pies to drip on wire racks until cool. Yields about 40 pies. Hope this helps.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
