Has anyone had TMJ surgery due to a dislocation of your TMJ joint?

Not due to dislocation but I have had two surgeries to repair torn ligaments on both side which basically is like a dislocation. My jaw was force forward and did not alien properly were as with dislocation the ligaments have stretched allowing to slide sideways or forward, and sometimes lock up and not move at all. If your jaw is not able to be moved back into alignment by muscle relaxants and being put to sleep or a full cut and stitch, to fix and hold it in place may be needed. My surgery was based on a car accident in 1978, in which they did not know or they did not tell me of the injury to the ligaments.

In 1996, I had suffered so much damage from my jaw sliding back and forth that it destroyed my join and I had to have the jaw rebuilt and the ligaments reattached. My second surgery in 2006 was to remove the silicone implants that I had refused to allow them to remove after my first surgery. The implant was suppose to only stay in 3 months and I could not afford the second surgery tho have it removed, since it was caused no trouble for 10 years I left it in, until it did cause trouble.

Otherwise, the first surgery itself to correct and realign the joint worked fine. Hopefully someone will contact you that has had the surgery or been put sleep to realign the jaw. And thereby, give you another opinion based on their experience.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I have had 5 cortisone injections into my TMJ joint and they won't do any more. The pain is debilitating once the cortisone wears off.

I hope you are fully healed and not feeling pain. Ladybird2012 4 days ago .

The surgery was uncomfortable as most are, but I did heal OK. My only problem is I cannot open my mother real far. I have to cut apples and corn off the cob.

And when I have dental work they have to hold my mouth open. But considering the number of years I was in pain and told there was nothing wrong. And considering the damage that I had, I am grateful.

If the can't put you under and put the jaw back in alignment then surgery is your best opt better than being in pain 27/7, and for years.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
