Have analog cable & an hdtv. Comcast says hd cable box plus anaolg cable equals HD programming. True?
I have analog cable service. Comcast said that with a hd cable box I can get hd programming. I pay $5 extra a month, but I don't see much difference in the picture between regular and hd channels.

The answer is Yes and No! You will get the HD programming but not the HD definition unless the following is true... You must have a HD compatable TV and you must also have a HD compatable cable box WITH the necesary HD cables. Hope that helps!
Please rate me "Great answer"! Sources: This is my opinion .
1 I wasn't specific enough. I have an HD tv. I have analog cable.
Comcast has me paying $5/month for an hd cable box hooked up via component cables. When I switch to the HD channels there isn't much difference in picture quality and I still get the black bars on the top and bottom. This can't be HD.
Any help would be appreciated.

3 I know that Comcast sends out an analog signal, but there is no way to turn that into a digital quality picture. When/if there is a digital signal, I find very little difference between a digital signal and a HD signal from the Dish Network. I'm fairly sure it's the same with Comcast.
Both are very clear. If you see a somewhat hazy picture your not getting digital signal, or your receiver has not been activated. Call your provider and ask them about it.It can be done remotely.

4 HDTV's may have different pixels settings, Mine has four different setting, changing the pixel setting can remove those black bars. There does not seem to a set standard program picture size as of yet, so one setting may not work for every program, you may have to chance settings for different programs/channels for the best picture fit.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
