Blacks are a historically poor group in America, and their advancement has as much to do with taking advantage of opportunities as it is getting over the "cycle of poverty" which unfortunately pervades inner-city black culture and history. There are still documented cases of discrimination against blacks, but now there is reverse-discrimination against whites as well (see below). Discrimination is an evil thing, and shouldn't happen to anyone, regardless of who they are.
I think it is silly that people say that Obama is of mixed-race origin, and therefore isn't black. Fact is, most black Americans today are racially mixed (hence very few of them are actually the color black anymore, compared to people directly from Africa). Truth is, today, it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from; if you work hard, educate yourself and make the right life decisions, you can do anything in America. Just look at Oprah.
The quick answer is yes. The long long answer follows. Middle eastern populations and Latinos also suffer a share of this discrimination.
I'm not sure I'd immediately say that Asians are being discriminated against so much as hated upon. People will talk smack about Asians(in the USA meaning Chinese/Vietnamese not necessarily Pakistani or Indian as in the UK) taking all the scholarships at universities or things like that but I have never heard anyone say "I'm not hiring No §$%& Chinese at my company." or those damned §$%&? Are over there startin' trouble again, call the cops.
Or "I'm gonna go kick me some ____ @$$ tonight" So Asians getting discriminated against the same way blacks do, filling up prisons, I'm going to say, No, but I'm open to accept written proof. As far as gays go, I wouldn't know about the burbs or rural areas but in places like NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington DC, Seattle, Chicago, LA, and SF, it's pretty in to be gay. The basic point is black people are visible.
They can't claim to be some other population or jump back & forth between descriptions as members of some other races do. Many blacks are in the lower rungs of the class and financial ladders in the US so since the US plays a leveraged game, the discrimination will automatically flow toward them.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
