A few times... I think it depends on the location and your personal preferences. If you are in a city or destination that offers a lot of activities outside of the room I do not think it is worth the expense. If you are going to spend the entire weekend in the room...go for it and have some fun.

I like to stay at hotels with indoor pools and they usually have a big hot tub in the pool area. Those are nice - deep, room to float, temperature controlled, lots of bubble action. But there’s often lots of other guest action, too, people popping in and out, kids bouncing around.

If you’re going to use the pool you won’t mind the inconvenience of going back to your room damp. If you’re only going to use the hot tub, it’s kind of a pain. Your own private tub, on the other hand, is quiet and, well, private.

You can control the temperature, you’re sharing it with only one person, who was invited on purpose, and you don’t have to wear any clothes in it. You can stay in it as long as you want and get in it any time you want. You can even take an actual bath in it.My personal preference is a tub in the room proper, rather than one in the bathroom.

Usually the bathroom ones are wider than a regular tub but not much longer, which isn’t good for stretching out. Also, the surroundings aren’t all that conducive to relaxation or romance. If the tub is in a section of an upgraded room it’s also likely you’ll have a roomier bathroom.

My only word of caution would be - if the hotel supplies those little bottles of bubble bath, don’t empty a whole one into your tub. :) .

Yes we have and I have to tell you the story! Our friends got us a room right after we were married because my husband is from Canada and he had to go back to Canada on Sunday. We were married on Saturday.

We spend Saturday night at a hotel with a hot tub and it was the first time I had ever been in a hot tub. My husband went to find some ice, so I decided to fill the hot tub. I cut on the hot water, forgot the cold, poured in some bubble bath and went to get the clothes out of the suitcase.
