1 I used to like the Maison Dupuy when it was new -- I even liked it as a six year old. Like many in the French Quarter historic district, this was in fact a NEW hotel (built in the mid 1970s) but seemed historic -- authentically so. It had a patina about it, with its French Doors, gas lights, antiquated crackle-paint staircases, pool and fountains. It had an ambience that was very old world and hard to replicate in a new building.

I haven't been there, however, since 1983.

2 We by-passed hotels and stayed at the Quarter house in the French Quarter on Chartres. quarterhouse.com/It is a time share that also operates as a hotel. I just looked at the rates, and the longer you stay the cheaper it is:1 night - $175.50 (including tax)2 nights -$160.50 (including tax)3 nights -$150.50 (including tax)4 nights -$140.50 (including tax)6 nights -$125.50 (including tax)The rooms are really nice, and each have a kitchenette, so you can keep soda in the fridge or heat up take-home in the microwave, The secret to staying there is you avoid the huge hotel 13% tax that LA charges hotels.

And it's in the middle of everything.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
