I bought mascara because of an answer I wrote for an Askville question. How about you? Asked by -layyla- 40 months ago Similar questions: found buying item amazon rest internet Askville Amazon > Askville.

I have! Even pre-Askville, I always used the reviews on Amazon as a guide. As a rule, I don't trust advertisements - I'm always wondering what the "catch" is - and the best recommendation a product can get is from people who've used it.
Let's see... I bought a sunless tanning cream that was recommended here after I got sick of how my old one made me break out. It was definitely a good choice. I've purchased several books.
One was an English grammar/syntax reference that was highly recommended. One was SharonW's trademark widget cookbook (which, incidentally, I love). I bought several from a question I asked about fiction recommendations.
I've even purchased a couple that I discovered while I was doing a widget search for something else. And I couldn't even count the number of books I've bought after just happening across a question and peeking at the answers. I asked a question several months ago wondering if anyone had ever found an eye cream that actually did what it promised and got rid of wrinkles.
I wasn't looking for magic, but a little efficacy would be nice! (I've actually used one or two that made things worse. ) Out of all the answers I got, I tried a couple, which were OK, but happened across another brand (on Amazon) while I was reading the reviews for the Askville-recommended products.
After I saw a couple of reviewers mention this other one, I thought I'd give it a whirl...and I love it! I bought a new bathtub cleaner after I discovered a question about it; I seem to remember seeing a bizarre compliment on someone's profile, clicked through because I just had to know what it was about, and found the recommendation (which came from a different answerer). It's funny that I've bought so many things due to Askville considering I'm such a fair-weather widgeter - especially considering that the widgets I do use are as likely to be funny or bizarre as real recommendations.
But, hey, keep 'em coming! MidwestPurgatory's Recommendations Lean & Luscious and Meatless Volume 3 A shout out to SharonW...
Yes, indeedy. This is one of the "hidden expenses", LOL, of Askville. It has happened to me when asking questions and when answering questions, mostly with books.
I will look up books to supplement an answer and find some very interesting ones and jot down a couple and all too frequently buy one later. Twice someone has recommended a book to me that I have bought ("Diabetes for Dummies" was one, and it’s great). I just came from an question I answered involving Gummi Bears and discovered they are now available in CHOCOLATE.
This was NOT good information for me to have, LOL. Who knows what the future may bring? Seriously, though, I have gotten some good answers and good product advice through Askville.
Hubby and I had a serious fire ant problem and we bought something recommended by an "answerer" and it worked great. We had tried several other products before with very poor results. When buying something from Amazon, I tend to put it into my basket and have a "cooling off" period to see if I still want it a few days later; plus I am cheap and will wait until I have enough for the free S&H.
But I have to admit I tend to get excited about products sometimes and really want to try them. I don’t shop much in "real" stores, so I don’t feel too bad about it. But, yes, Askville has led me to some impulsive buys - nothing out of control.....yet.LOL.

No. But I did notice that some people like to answer lots of annoying bonus questions to boost their gold coins and ruin Askville for everyone else. Note to anyone who rates this answer: please give it one star and help me achieve my quest for a negative gold coin total..
1 Yes, have bought loads of DVDs and CDs when something interesting crossed my path in Askville. I'm addicted to them, you know, quite hopeless, lol.

2 I just bought a monitor from a website in someone's answer to a question someone else asked. I bought stuff from Amazon that I found in some of my answers or another person's answer to a question I answered. Okay...now make sense out of all that I just said!
LOL :) .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
