I've never lied to get out of jury duty. However, I did successfully get out of it. I wear suits often, but on the day I had to show up I made sure to wear pinstripes, cufflinks and a pocket square.

I also made sure my tie was pink (some men are still uncomfortable with other men who wear pink). I made it clear that I was a business man and made every effort to be *over professional*. I was by far the most formally dressed person there, exactly as I had intended.

The defendant didn't want me as a juror and I got to go home. They want people who will sympathize with them and I was by far the most unsympathetic looking guy in the room.

No, I've never lied to get out of jury duty. In fact, in my whole life, I've never been asked to be on jury duty. I always thought it would be very interesting to be on a jury.To be able to sit through an interesting murder case would be awesome.

I know many people that have done it two or three times and I've never been chosen.

No. I only had Jury Duty once. And its not that bad.

Take an iPod or a laptop or something to do while you wait. Maybe you get lucky enough to be on the jury of a very important case!

I don't have to I had a felony arrest when I was younger. I beat up someone who harrased my wife while we were dating so I am ineligible.

I've never had jury duty yet -- I'm only 21, but crossing my fingers that it won't happen anytime soon -- so I can't say that I have. If I did go to jury duty, though, I probably wouldn't lie to get out of it unless it was at a REALLY bad time. I'd of course do my research on the case to see if there was a legitimate reason to get out of it -- I'm studying to be a journalist, so this isn't too inconceivable -- but otherwise, I'd do it.

Who knows? It might be more interesting than a lot of people make it out to be.

I was called to jury duty once. I didn't lie because I was actually interested in seeing the process happen. I was asked to be on the jury and spent three days on a DUI trial.

I have to say that after that experience, I'm not sure that I would want to be on another jury. It was very stressful having someone else's fate in your hands. In addition, you have to deal with a variety of people (other jury members) that you might not really want to interact with.

After this, I would do what jkepler did and make myself an unattractive candidate for the jury pool selection rather than lie. It relieves you of your civic duty (as you can't be called in some specific amount of time after going - or maybe that is just serving on a jury) and you save face. There were many people not chosen.

If I had mentioned that my step father was a former police officer or that I did not believe in innocent before proven guilty or any number of other objections (heck you just have to tell them that you can't be impartial in any way) and you will be a bad candidate for the jury and release, but you will have done your duty for a judicial system that you may one day need.

I've been registered to vote since I was 18 and never been called to jury duty so I've had no reason to dodge it.. if I was called I wouldn't lie either. Jury duty is an important part of our already screwed up judicial system.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
