Have you experienced any negative side effects from taking a multi-vitamin?

I was told by my internist. I have been on thyroid replacement for over 35 years. I now know to take my thyroid med on an empty stomach.

Also when my internist quizzed me on any over the counter meds or vitamins I was taking I told him Centrum Silver, I'm over 55 and that's what was recommended. He said to stop immediately because there is something in that particular vitamin supplement which will interfere with my body's absorption of the thyroid meds. I would assume, because I wasn't on it long enough to have a side effect, that if it interfered with the absorption I would eventually have gotten very tired, gained weight and the rest of the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Never. I like Nature's Plus-Source of Life. It gives lots of energy and contains many important helpful things... I don't need iron since, since after menopause you don't lose iron in your blood.

You recycle the iron you have. Some iron supplements make people sick.

Side effects from multi-vitamins are rare, but possible. I have seen patients develop a drug rash, that is, a widespread itchy, red rash, that was eventually attributed to their multivitamin. The rash resolved when they stopped taking it.

Also, urticaria, a rash characterized by very itchy, pink hives, has also been associated with some components of multivitamins, like folic acid. Overall, adverse effects from multivitamins are rare.

In the morning.....it makes me deathly sick to my stomach, so I normally take them at night before bed.

Never had this problem but if you have try taking the multi vitamin with food.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
