Other than the questions being asked by people who will never check back to see what the answers are, the bulk of the questions seem to asked by the same 3 - 4 people. Does that mean the rest of us now know everything after being on here for over 2 years, we've just given up trying to get decent answers, or we're tired of the constant bickering? It has to mean something!

1 No, it means that some of us are trying to ask good questions to keep this place going, and most of the others don't care. What they don't seem to realize is that everyone is complaining about boring questions, but they don't ask anything themselves. And another thing is, aside from that, so many people have left, that when you do ask an interesting question very few people respond, and it is discouraging.

3 I agree, Kar...there's no excitement...we ASK and the question just lays there...we ANSWER and nobody votes. I'm past the phase of my life that I want to answer homework questions...been there, done that. The 'mods' asked for 'site suggestions'...but don't even respond to our ideas on how to get this place motivated again.
You're right, it's discouraging.

4 Personally, I'm tired of the bickering. I've also noticed that the productivity of my workday has increased exponentially since I stopped spending as much time on this site LOL. But honestly it's like the boredom people keep complaining about has manifested itself as something else -- snark isn't the right word for it, but people seem so eager to comment on something that they'll just say whatever comes to mind, constructive or not, they just want to put their two cents in.
I still answer questions on occasion (if I think I know the answer) -- mostly movie and the book questions everyone else is so up in arms about.... but I mostly avoid the opinion DB's that I used to frequent.

OldppieHatesNewAV replied to post #2: 5 No.....but if you run through the first couple of pages of questions, you can probably figure out who I'm referring to without too much trouble! Besides, Ajax the Great Topic Elf wouldn't let you ask too many questions because he can't handle too much criticism. Look at the asinine topic he assigned this question!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
