I have noticed that if the government is questioned you are considered unpatriotic. If you think they have made a bad choice you are turning against your country. It is almost as if, if you do not keep with the status quo you are wrong and bad. If you don't say our country can do no evil you are unpatriotic.
Is this my imagination or are even out leaders becoming followers. I don't see any independent minded leaders anymore. I see a bunch of sheep too afraid to voice out against popular opinion and against wrong.
I have seen a bunch of people who are too PC for their own good. I could be wrong, what do you think? Asked by Jekyll 47 months ago Similar questions: noticed trend politics government shunned wrong Politics & Law > Politics.

That's the biggest problem today Unfortunately- I think people are either afraid to criticize the government or we have just in general developed too much of the "herd" mentality. They go along with things because they figure they have to. Take the whole Iraq war for instance.
I don’t care what anyone says, Bush deliberately misled the country into believing Hussein had WMDs and pressured the politicians into voting for the invasion. Now it comes out that there was no clear evidence of WMDs, and I’m sorry- he KNEW that! But people now look the other way- and accept that they were duped because "Hussein was a bad guy".
Well, yes he was- but what made it our place to remove him- other that Bush Sr originaly had ligitimate clash with him (should we have defended Kuwait in the invasion- maybe not- but at least there was a reason there. ) Bush Jr invaded a foreign country with no ligitimate immediate threats and now we have to stay there because it will be ten times worse if we just pull out. I know the democrats are promising a swift exit if elected- but I don’t know how they can do that and not leave things a huge mess that will come back to bite us in the end!
And people aren’t questioning anyone about it. They’re the leaders so we’ll just go along with what they say. Maybe some people feel that it won’t matter what they say so they just don’t take a stand!
Maybe that’s it. Google Map View Larger Map .
With due respect for George Orwell It would seem that we are dancing on the edge of becoming a totalitarian regime. Having read 1984, (in 1984) I am seeing disturbing parallels between them and us. Countries that were our friends are now our enemies, countries that were our enemies are now our friends.
We have new terminologies that we must use. I, too, am very nervous about the future of our country.
The Righteous The presidential primaries debates have given us a clear view about each candidate. I say it's ugly out there. If anything the debates opened up the pilfering our tax money. In regards to important issues many candidates have been untruthful and integrity.
Government never listened to us, and now these candidates are talking about listening to the people and we know it's for votes. We have heard about all these programs for the poor and the ignorant are looking at that as great, but little do they know that middle America will pay dearly. Will this give more funding to illegal's?
They never tell you that. Are we funding illegal's, and in most cases does the money goes back "home." We are not the unpatriotic, nor are we turn coats, we are truly Americans.
We love our country and our resilience will get us through. Now as far as the candidates they have flipped flopped on many issues. We can't be blamed for that.
Is corruption legal? .
Yes, I have noticed this… No, you’re NOT wrong…but it isn’t a new thing. It’s cyclical, and it is VERY common in wartime. The last time I remember this being somewhat of an issue was during the first gulf war.
Before that it was Viet Nam. “Love it or leave it” was the popular bumper sticker slogan, and the more radical folks went with “Change it or lose it! ” in response.
The McCarthy Era and the whole anti-communist witch-hunts. The internment and confiscation of property of Japanese citizens in WWII. People went along with these things—in part because of the reaction when you spoke out against it.
What I find most disturbing about this trend is that it is so totally contrary to the whole concept of freedom of expression, freedom of speech, that is an essential tenant of—the very foundation of—our constitution! I notice this time around—and this is specifically BECAUSE of Vietnam—folks are bending over backwards to say “of course we support our troops, but we’re against the war. ” Yet the REAL support of the troops?
Medical support when they come home wounded, vets benefits? That is rapidly falling by the wayside. Sources: Persnal opinion NancyE's Recommendations AMERICA: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!11 oz.

I see it both ways. Well reasoned criticism is fine and should be shunned. Emotional rants are irresponsible and should be shunned.
The problem now it that people are overdoing it. First, are you talking about criticizing the President or the Government. The President changes at least every 8 years.
The career politicians in certain positions in the Government last forever. They are the ones to worry about. Also, criticism is mostly part of the Democratic particism because they want to gain the presidency in 2008.
They want the Republicans and the President to look bad in the press even if they have to make up stories. When llary went on her rant about not being able to criticize the president without being called unpatriotic, nobody was calling her unpatriotic. It was a Clinton ploy.
They play the press like a violin. Part of the problem with people criticizing the war is that they don't give rational arguments for why they are against it. That is what people don't like.
If you just say war is bad that's not enough. That's too easy and if you let it go at that it is irresponsible. Tell us why.
If you say George Bush shouldn't have gotten us into a war then you need to explain what you would have done given the circumstances he was given. Would you not have responded? What message would that have sent to the terrorist?
Kill as many of us as you wish we won't fight back. It's easy to say no war when you are not responsible for the consequences. Ask your if the US army pulled out of all of its locations in the world and we told the world we wouldn't fight back or intervene in any situation outside of the 50 states like Darfour.
What do you think would happen between China and Taiwan, North Korea and South Korea, Iran and Iraq, Iran and Israel? On balance I believe that the US is a force for good in the world. People who are of the blame America first crowd ignore all of the good we and our military do.
We give far more foreign aid than any other country. Our economy is the largest in the world and we supply many products to the rest of the world. We invented most of the advanced medical technology used in the rest of the world.
If we establish military bases in the middle east we may just scare Iraq and Syria from attacking Israel and starting WWIII. That would be a good thing wouldn't it? .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
