Good new features, paticularly the topic accountability, and great news about the 2 coin-gaming users being banned. Asked by boxing 55 months ago Similar questions: read latest askville blog entry 29 thoughts Amazon > Askville.

A step in the right direction... I'm going to comment on each subject addressed in the order that the blog listed them in. Active Discussions Adding more pages to the discussion listings, may not seem to be that major, but I think it will be helpful. Especially finding discussions that you may want to watch but don't want to participate in.
I hope in the future that there will be a way of anonymously adding a discussion to your "my discussions". Currently you have to add a post into the discussion, which can clutter up discussions. Add a topic accountability I like this new feature.
I'm sure it will cut down on the inappropriate topic additions. I do think that they still have a way to go on cleaning up the topics, but this is a good start. Copying your own Answers I am glad that they clarified this point.
I didn't think it was a big deal to copy your previous work, (and have done so in the past) but it is nice to know what the Askville team is thinking on this. Also like the idea of suggesting that we add the old questions as sources, so that others can link to (and learn from) them easier. Voting Abuse Update Glad to see they took care of this latest voting abuse scam.It was interesting to see that they said it didn't result in changes to all answer ratings.
Also happy to see they continue to take it seriously. Voting on Opinion Based Questions "We are evaluating ways to make the voting process "fairer", but for now we can only take actions when it is a clear-cut case of abuse." I am interested to see how they make the process fairer.
I still think it is possible to rate a clearly expressed and well written opinion as great even when you don't agree with the conclusions they draw. Backlogged in our voting abuse reviews I don't doubt this in the slightest. My final comment. I'm glad that the Askville team continues to improve the site and communicate with us.
I love it Geez. It wasn't the loss of precious coins that bugged me, it was the unfairness of the thing. I think they corrected it Thanks for bringing it to our attention that we had a blog update...I wish it would 'flash' or something when they update.
The minute I don't check it out, there's a new message.
Guess I can stop checking for activity from Azphun/Damien/DCRII/LORDOFDARKNESS It’s good to know they were banned. I reported abuse on a month’s worth of questions, and each one was making me angrier and angrier. A couple of users who cropped up after they stopped coming around have me a little suspicious, I’m reserving judgement.
I love the topic accountability. I think it would also be cool if you could register your feelings if a topic was included that doesn’t really apply. I know there’s the abuse reporting, but as they say, they’re pretty backlogged.
I didn’t realize people had issues with people copying their own answers. There are so many times when people ask questions that have been asked multiple times before. Not opinion-based, but rather "how to" stuff.
How to resize a picture for an avatar is a good example. I’ve got several questions on my watchlist so I can cut and paste my answer as I went to the trouble to make a step-by-step procedure with screen shots for using Photoshop or MS Paint. Or the one about downloading You Tube videos.
I don’t particularly want to type that each time :) I know I also recently copied a previous response on a "personal experience" type question, but I also provided the link to the question and said there was more info there. I hope they get through their voting abuse backlog soon, as I assume they are backlogged on feedback as well. I have some screen shots of errors I can provide them, but no contact email for them.As far as the discussions, I usually only read the ones where I’ve either answered the question or posted in them.
I’ll have to keep an eye on them a little more closely as they’re apparently quite lively. If they could post when the blog is updated, that would be cool too.It always seems like the day I don’t check it is the day they make big announcements.
I read it! I think again that it clarifies and betters so many things here. Is "betters" a word?Hmmm..maybe not.
But it made things better, is what I am saying. I want to add a topic to your question just so I can check out the deal with the explanation, though!Hmmm...you didn’t add Askville Blog--I could add that! Anyway, I’m so glad they clarified the "use previous answers" situation.
It’s now in writing so there should be no further controversy over it. I’m not sure yet about the discussion changes...I was just there reading discussions and didn’t really notice anything. Better go check...oh.
Ok, now I see the little link at the bottom of the list. That's nice as before we were "stopped" with just one page of discussions, now we have all open discussions and we can see them based on their topics. That's good.
But not as vital as other things--like topic organization in general. Oh, well, it's all under construction so it will be interesting to see what they come up with next. Wonder which came first--the rules clarification or the site updates?
Did they just happen to time the changes with the rules clarification? Weird timing! .
Hah! My idea! askville.amazon.com/askville/OpenQuestio... Add a topic accountability We’ve introduced accountability to suggesting topics to help us more quickly track who is suggesting topics and also let the community acknowledge those helpful Askvillers who are adding useful topics to questions.
Similar to using your Voting Authority Superpower, when you suggest a topic, whatever topic you submit will generate a discussion post on the discussion board (see screenshot below). This will help recognize helpful Askvillers who are assisting community members properly categorize their questions and it will also help us more effectively track and admin topic abuse. I think fixing the disasterous topic fiasco would have been better.
They already knew how to track who's posted topics. Giving you More Reasons to Post Discussions! Superfluous, but I guess it might help some people.
I answered some of the cheaters questions, both pairs and I NEVER had one single rating amended. Time to ban the spammers and trolls now! .

Why does my askville look the same as it always has?... how do I get it to look like they say in the blog?..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
