Blog I think it's a good blog post. It addresses alot of what we have been talking about here in discussions in a pretty general sort of way, and I think newbies, if they read it, will find it pretty helpful. It doesn't make any earthshaking announcements or ways to deal with problems other than common sense, but it does address many of the areas of disagreement here recently.

It makes me realize how much they are "listening" to our concerns, too, which is a very good thing. They want this to be a great site, it's obvious, and they know to do that there needs to be a good Askville base of answerers, and seem very willing to work with us to achieve that level of Askvillers. Hang in there, Marc!

I'm glad that it clears up a few questions "If you receive a negative vote, you should not always assume it is the fault of the asker" That's important! A lot of people blame the asker first without considering other votes. "When you answer an opinion based question, you need to realize that your opinion may not be popular, which could result in a negative vote.

" True, but I wish they could do something about that so all valid answers receive valid votes. "We strongly encourage our veteran Askvillers to lead by example and warmly welcome newbie users and respectfully advise others about how to use the site via private messaging. "Finally, veteran Askville users who have earned enough experience points in specific topics can use their voting Superpower to objectively vote on answers to ensure that the best answers get rewarded in every topic. " We can't do that on questions we answer ourselves, which kind of defeatst he purpose. If someone like Lime and booknerdgirl come along and screw up a question we answer, there is nothing we can do to fix it.

"Thanks for everyone’s feedback and we will continue to work hard to make Askville a great place to ask… answer… meet… play. " Whoever wrote this blog entry was in a bad mood - they ended with a . Instead of a!

Yes I do. I think most of us know what motivated them to post this, but I think they're gently avoiding the real issue. Some bad seeds around here started cheating, or violating the guidelines in other ways, and Askville's response is a very light "tisk tisk".

I think they should've been more harsh, explicitly announce they will ban everyone they find to be cheating, and if that doesn't help, threaten to take away all quest coins! That would certainly teach everyone to behave .

Very logical post... I think that most of it is a logical reiteration of the existing policies/plans and really more a refresher statement than any king of a change or shift. The clarifications on what some people might think is unexpected behavior is somewhat useful (seeing as there have been a couple questions about it recently) but still nothing earthshaking. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
