I am in agreement of repealing the New Health Care Law. People were told that it needed to be reformed (True), not a total transformation. The definition of reform is... to improve; to eliminate abuse or malpractice.
Once again, politicians have changed or altered definitions to fool the American public (How could we forget: "I did not have sexual relations with "that" woman"). Healthcare needs to be competitive. It requires that we continue to attract the best minds and dedicated individuals.
Some true reform to reduce costs would be to: 1. ) Eliminate the fraud going on in the current system, especially in Medicare / Medicaid.2. ) Open up Healthcare "competition" so that companies can operate in any state.
This is one way how costs are kept in check.3. ) Stop lawsuit abuses which could lower malpractice insurance.4. ) Control "illegal" immigration to eliminate abuses on our health system.5.) Institute preventative medicine practices.
We are not in a socialist or communist country or in a dictatorship, where the government mandates what and how we do things. The free market system works if we let it. The way this new system is concocted, will complicate and cost us more in the short term and in the future.
A 2000+ page law that Congress didn't read and that is full of earmarks that have nothing to do with healthcare should be unpopuilar. It is driving premiums up and care down already. People are a lot smarter than Congress give us credit for.
This legislation is a government takeover and doesn't address the things that are wrong with the current system such as tort reform, selling across state lines, ala carte policies and less government red tape.
Look. We had this debate and by our system one side won. The other side lost.
But they will not settle back and see if it works or not. They want to kill it now. For what good reason?
Just give it a year or two and it will be as popular as Medicare. And you should know what people said about it - before it was passed.

But something needs to be done. People should not have to lose everything they own and then go live in the gutter just because they got sick. A catch-22.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
