I just did! All I'm going to do for now. I recently sold my big tree and over 30 years worth of collecting unique ornaments from all over, and all the nice ornaments for tabletops and fireplaces, plus lighted wreaths and centerpieces.
I now have a tabletop fibre optic tree which I have placed in front of a glass wall, and it is absolutely beautiful pulsing pretty colors against the dark night sky. It is all I need at this stage of life. I will put it away right after New Year's day.
Once again, you have brightened my early morning; your description of the scene outside of your window is lovely, Lily. Like you; I traditionally put up Christmas decorations early in the Advent season. I resist all urges to begin before December 1st; and prefer to start decorating the first Sunday in Advent.
I did make a batch of my spiced, warm, apple cider yesterday for our Thanksgiving get together; even though it was hot outside. It got up to 83 °F (28.3 °C). It is about 6:30 a.m.
Here; and the temperature is 70 °F (21 °C), so falling snow is not an option......and yet I still feel festive!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
