How can I become an elementary school teacher in CA?

I suppose you need to go to teacher's training college. Being elementary school teacher, there are a lot of probability of you needing to teach English, Maths and Science. Buy some guide books and reference books from reputable bookshops to familiarise yourself from Grade 1 - 6 or 7.

When you start teaching, always ask advice from the senior teachers. Have good relations with all your colleagues, if possible. Ask, ask and ask.

Read up some educational psychology books and also multiple intelligences book by Howard Gardner. You have to discern whether your class listens well, or you need to do a lot of writing. Young children often love fun-filled activities.

So buy books that have lots of activities and customise them. Ask your seniors if you can have their lesson plans and observe**** their lessons. Learn from good and poor examples.

Be confident in teaching. Young children need nannies, and a teacher in lower grade need to function as a nanny as well. (Toilet train, finding missing books, pens etc) Maintain discipline in class.

Read up on these books in teachers' training college. You may like to further your education so that you can teach in higher levels, or you can be a senior or master teacher who coaches other teachers later on in your career. Be prepared to make sacrifices in being a teacher.

A teacher has to work very long hours with low pay. When you feel that you impact eternity and the next generation, when the students thank you or calls you politely, I feel it is a job well done. It is so meaningful , minus the pay portion!

Be careful of burn-outs. Be sure that you want to go to teaching. It is a calling, not just a job.

It does not pay very well usually. Be prepared to handle unruly kids because the family structures of US have broken down in many homes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
