For larger organizations, you can check Charitynavigator. Com for a rating. I'm not a huge fan of the Red Cross, but that's just me.
I like to give my money to small organizations whenever possible, because less of it is lost to administrative and fund-raising costs. In this case, I happen to have a very dear friend who has been an aid worker in Haiti since 12/08 and I'm donating to her organization, Sirona Cares. More info at sironacares.chipin.com/earthquake-relief... and www.sironacares.org.
Animal lovers, consider donating to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (www.ifaw.org) or another int'l aid org. I do not recommend HSUS. They got into a lot of trouble after Katrina and after the Michael Vick thing for questionable fund-raising and distribution tactics.
Here is a list of organizations. One organization that I would highly recommend is the Red Cross 1. Www.redcross.Org redcross.org/ 2.Www.

/200px-Croixrouge_logos.jpg.Think of the organizations you are familiar with locally, and see if they have the same ones there.. Others people did not list are Mercy Corps.. and if you want to donate do not forget there are many you can through goodsearch search engine.. In the box above the word verify type Haiti and all the US orgs that help out in various things in Haiti will be listed you selected on and verify and then use the search engine and it donates as you do your normal searching to it.. .. don't forget Mercy Corpses, and United Nations Peace Keeping .. But you can also go to the news sites and type in the org and do research via that way or search engines.. to see if there has been scandles or issues.. MSNBC, CNN, FOX and many others on their news site has a list of good orgs and charities for relief effort.. Yahoo, and Youtube have links to it as well.. Just look around.
All of the organizations listed are great and do excellent work. When looking who to donate your money too, it is often helpful to know what percentage of your donation goes to direct relief or will be sent to Haiti (or other disaster area). Many organizations may have high administration costs, looking at the organization's annual report will provide a sense of how much money is spent on people on the ground versus people in the office.
I think I’ll use the following criteria: 1. Trustable : donation to the scammers, fakes will do no good. 2.
Local: local charity organizations know best what are needed. They are faster to give helps too. Donating to non-local ones will increase work.
They will have to either donate again to the locals or organize their team to go over. This is slower and more costly. 3.
With correct expertise and with good track records Avoid donate to organization that doesn’t know what to do or buy the wrong things for victims. Waste money. 4.
Tax deductible so that the amount donated can be more Donate also the tax savings. In this way, you can donate more within your means. 5.
Ease and low transaction cost Preferably can do it online. Choose the channel that you won’t be charged transaction fees. Donate direct so that it will reach the victims faster.
Avoid long chain of donation process, for example donate to your company, which then go to local paper, then go to local Red Cross, then US Red Cross, then Haiti Red Cross. Too slow. 6.
Choose according to the causes you believe For examples: food, medical supply, rebuilding of schools, medical facilities, temporary shelters etc… Avoid those that you may not agree, for e.g. Relocation of animals affected.
(I think one of the oldest Red Cross) immediately by donating to the Red Cross another very good way is to Church's in that area. A church will go out of their way to deliver items needed. Very touching question!
All of the above mentioned and Doctors without borders. Org P.S. It could happen "another place" toomorrow.
I agree that the Red Cross is a good organization. The Salvation Army is also helping with the relief effort as is Samaritan's Purse. Both are also excellent organizations to give through as is World Vision salvationarmyusa.org samaritanspurse.org/ worldvision.org/ If you're not sure about a charity to which you would like to give, you should check them out on a website like charitynavigator.org which lists legitimate charities to which you can give.
You can text haiti to the number 90999 and you could donate $10 to help the people in haiti.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
