You can't install Vista unless you purchase a copy and even then half the time if it is anything more than a year or two old it is too underpowered to install Vista. If you don't have your recovery disks there MIGHT be a recovery partition on the hard drive. Try holding Ctrl+F11 or Ctrl+F10 repeatedly until after the splash screen goes away (the Toshiba screen).
If you still can't get into it (sometimes there IS no partition) you will either have to obtain a copy of the XP disk, buy a new copy, or take it to a computer repair shop that should have disks to do it with. Backup your data before you do it though or you will lose everything. Oh and there is a chance the blue screen means hardware failures of some sort, in which case the XP disk will not help you.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
