Does the Linksys WRT54G router restrict the bandwidth going to each computer? Can you recommend a good router that lets us set specific QoS?

You could keep the existing router, but ditch the manufacturer's firmware and replace it with DD-WRT or Tomato instead. These firmwares offer better stability and I believe both have QoS services as well. Check out the links below.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
