How do I find my Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router default access key?

I bought a netgear wifi phone that requires a wireless wifi connection. My Linksys has been set up for my computer to automatically retrieve the access key that I now need to input into my new phone in order to set it up. How do I go about finding this access key so that I may manually enter it into my wifi device?

Access the router with the instruction below and look up the key. All this assumes your LinkSys has been setup with all the normal default configurations... it may not be and if different feel free to send a note with what's not standard and I'll be happy to help you. The normal method of accessing the LinkSys router is by going to your computer browser (IE or FireFox) and where the web address goes put 192.168.1.1 tting the link in this post should actually bring it up.

The default setting for the LinkSys is blank for the user name and "admin" without the quotes for the password. That should bring up your router configuration application in your browser. Click on the "Wireless" tab first, and then the "Wireless Security" sub-tab second.

There you should find your security key and the type of security setup on the router. This would be what you need to duplicate for your Netgear wireless phone. If your settings aren't as they come by default, you can defualt the entire unit and reset it up, but hopefully that won't be necessary (only would be required if you just flat can't get to the admin panel of the router).

Run "Linksys - EasyLink Advisor" My Linksys router came with an application called "Linksys - EasyLink Advisor" that was part of the installation for setting it up. Go to Windows Start and look in your programs and see if you can find it. If you can’t find it here look in your programs directory under C:/Program Files/Linksys EasyLink Advisor/ and double click on the LinksysAdvisor.

Exe file to run it. When I run this application and then go to the Support tab it pulls up all the information on the settings for the router including the Encryption Key number that I believe you are looking for.

First loginto the router using internet explorers address bar. If you know the I. P Address of your router, type into the address bar in internet explorer, then when the page opens type in your name and password which is usually default of admin as the user and admin as the password.

Then go to the wireless tab then under it click wireless security and there you will see key 1 thru 4. 1 is usually the first one to use. However you may change these to anything you would like and make it easy to rememeber.

Oh also the I.P. Address is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 All that you really need to use is Key 1 you may leave the other blank. I hope this helps..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
