How do I get rid of skunk odor from my house and car?

My dog was sprayed early this morning by a skunk. He charged into the house and rubbed himself all over the couches rugs, carpets, and then jumped on my bed. I wrapped him up in the bedspread and rushed him to the vet's.

I now have severe lingering skunk odor throughout my house and car. To top it all off, I have guests flying in from out of town for the holidays. HELP!

They also make units for cars as well-called the Rainbowair Auto Kit. This company offers a 30 day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied-which is pretty awesome. Website to purchase: ozoneexperts.com/You won't need to use anything else after getting this.Com.

There's a very effective skunk odor elinimator made by a company called Clean Green. It can be sprayed on clothing, furniture, rugs and pet fur safely. If you can't find that, take 1/4 cup baking soda, and mix with 1 pint (2 cups) hydrogen peroxide.

While it's foaming, add 1 or 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap (Dawn works best). Dump on the pet (NOT ON FACE OR EYES! ) work into the fur well, then rinse.

Dog just got sprayed AGAIN tonight. Last time nothing worked - tomato juice, vinegar & peroxide, dish soap - NOTHING. This time a neighbor saw me washing the dog outside and gave me a bottle of Nature's Miracle skunk remover.

****IT WORKS! *** The only thing that works. BUT it only works if 1) you apply it, (scrub it in) on a DRY dog (water dilutes it) and 2) you let it sit on your dog for hours until dry.

If you do those things it WORKS....

I'm told tomato juice. But you basically want a chemical reaction that will chemically bind and remove the odor. Baking soda should also do this.

Vinegar is acidic and might also, tho the skunk scent could be acidic, and if it is, then maybe not. However, the traditional tomato juice is very acidic, which is why I make the less expensive suggestion. " Home Remedies/Over-the-Counter Products Never overlook the simple act of taking a shower and washing clothes to mitigate skunk odor.

Time, air, soap and water, and ammonia in water are recommended to remove odor from fabrics. Other treatments include washing items with a strong soap, a heavy-duty laundry detergent, or borax. Be sure to follow any directions that are specific to washing a particular fabric.

A chemist by the name of Paul Krebaum discovered a solution that chemically neutralizes skunk odor. The ingredients for the formulation are: 1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (fresh bottle) 1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) 1-2 teaspoons liquid dish soap. Ingredients must be mixed in an open container and used immediately.

Never mix the ingredients in advance because oxygen released from hydrogen peroxide may cause a closed container to explode. The solution can be used on people or pets; avoid splashing the product in the eyes or mouth. Allow the solution to remain on hair for five minutes before rinsing with water.

Repeat as needed. Do not use this solution on clothing — it may discolor the fabric. For clothing that cannot be washed or dry-cleaned, such as shoes, suspend them outdoors, allowing fresh air to carry away the volatile thiols.

The odor will decrease over time provided the material is not re-exposed to skunk musk. Any cleaning fluid or household chlorine bleach also can be used to remove skunk odor from fabrics. Use these products in separate steps — not together.

Test cleansers first on an inconspicuous portion of the fabric before applying to the entire fabric. When deodorizing a house, don't forget to change the air filter to the furnace/air conditioner. Sometimes it can become contaminated with skunk odor and continue to disperse the smell throughout the house after the initial source of the odor has been treated." "My 3 year old Shaffordshire Terrier "Jewal" ran up on the back deck and rubbed her body against the back door.

After being sprayed by a Skunk. I put her in her dog run and then sprayed my deck and door with "Febreze Extra Strength". I then got my dog out of the run and sprayed her down with the Febreze.....let her set for about 3 to 5 min.

Not long seeing as it was cold and windy. Now I could stand the smell. So I brought her in the house and directly to the bath room and in the tub where I put the con-cocktion of Apple Cider Viniger, Baking Soda, and Dawn Dish Soap on her. Rubbed it in and let her set for about 5 min.

Rinsed her will with warm water and then dried her with an old beach towel. Then put her in a wire cage in the office to finish drying. I then sprayed my kitchen, dining room, hall and bathroom with the Febreze.

When the heater kicked in I put a sheet of bounce on the intake panel and on the vent of the bathroom. I then made a fresh pot of coffee and set down to see what everyone else was doing for skunk smells on dogs and in their house. It has been 2 hours since the Skunk ordeal, and there is no trace of skunk smell in my house.

Dog has faint smell on face but I wiped her down including her face with a bounce sheet and that seem to do the trick. Just don't forget the Febreze and Bounce. I think that combined with the bath is what worked for me.

May not work for me next time, but it did this time." Sources: http://www.ianrpubs.unl.edu/epublic/pages/publicationD.jsp?publicationId=432 and http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf475973.tip.html .

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
