How do I safely shut down my computer without the screen?

I installed ram that may not be compatible. The screen won't come up on my computer. How do I shut down the CPU safely without being able to see the screen?

Three methods in order of preference... Three methods in order of preference: 1. Tap the power button once and look for short hard disk activity (from the light) and then for it to shut down. 2.

Hold the power button in for a full ten seconds and you should hear/see it shut down. 3. Pull the power cord.

Realistically, the worst you should face if you have to go to the extreme (option three) is that the computer will run a quick disk check when it boots because of the ungraceful shutdown. 9999 times out of 10000 there is no damage or risk to the hard drive. Hope that helps!.

Without the screen, it's pretty tough! I suggest you try to do as little damage to your system as possible and... Press the power button in, for about 10-15 seconds, until the computer manually shuts down. While this isn't the best way to do it, it's safer then just pulling the plug!

Finding compatible RAM/Memory is tough at times, an older system's RAM might be hard to find as well. They all Look the same in the store, but unless you do your research, or have someone get it for you in a computer store, you might have problems like you currently do. My suggestion is you go to crucial.com and download their Memory Scan.

Just hit the power button once If the system booted into the operating system and you just can't see it, press the power button one time. This initiates a shut down sequence (identical to you clicking Start -> Shutdown). If the system has incorrect RAM and isn't getting into the operating system at all then it should just shut off as soon as you press the power button.

If pressing the power button doesn't do anything, just hold it down for 10 seconds until it shuts off. If the computer never gets to the point of loading the operating system then forcing it to shut down won't hurt anything.

Easy easy, if the memory is wrong, then it's unlikely the computer got anywhere, almost certainly not into a bad state. Just power it off. Now about the memory, get a flashlight and see if the simms really are fully seated.

They have to be fully down and with the side locks snapped in.

Restart There are a couple of things you could try. Assuming you are using Microsoft Windows First, try pressing the following buttons in the order I specify. Press the Windows Key once.

Press the Up arrow once. Press L and then S to get to the Shutdown option. (just pressing S will sometimes go to the Standby mode.) Press Enter/Return.

Second option to try is to press your power button one time. Do not hold it down to "safely" power down the computer. Some operating systems are tied to this power button to shutdown safely when this power button is pressed once.

Good luck. Sources: Personal experience .

I want to reduce speed of my computer using a software.

My computer has A:\ on the screen how do I get out of this.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
