How Do You Create A Fishtail Braid?

A fishtail braid or a Herringbone braid creates a tight Herringbone pattern. This braid works best on medium to long hair without layers. You can braid the hair in a full braid from the top of the scalp or start the braid from a ponytail.

Brush or comb the hair to remove any snags and divide the hair into two equal sections. Put hair in a ponytail before dividing to start from a ponytail. Spray each section with a fine mist of aerosol hairspray and smooth with your hands.

Make sure the hair is dry before you begin braiding. Separate a section of hair from the outside edge toward the underside of the left section of hair. A fishtail braid looks best when you use thin strips of hair.
