How Do You Create The Fishtail Or Herringbone Braid?

The fishtail or herringbone braid is one of the absolutely most beautiful braids that there is. It is stunning and appears very complex and difficult to master. In reality, it is easy to do and each time you create a braid, you get better and better at it.

Depending upon your own personal style you may want to do this in front of a mirror. I know of some people who swear by a mirror and then I know others who prefer to do it by feel, only looking in the mirror when finished. Begin by parting your hair down the center using a comb.

Now, starting on the right side of the part you just made, twist a one-inch segment of hair away from your face. Now, use your comb to separate a ½-inch section right below the first section along the side of your face. Now, twist that piece away from your face and combine it with the first segment of hair that you did in step 2.
