How do you feel about cremation?

I want to be cremated. I want my ashes scattered in Africa.

I would prefer it, and have made sure my family is aware of my preference. Part of it is practical- It just seems like a waste of land (If everyone was always buried I just imagine we'd run out of land eventually! ) plus it costs a ton.

The other half is that I cringe thinking of my body decomposing. I know I'd be gone and it shouldnt matter... but e I would much rather be cremated.

Now that Catholicism allows cremation, I am leaning towards it. It's cheaper - more practical for my family.

I fully intend to be cremated when my time comes. I hate the thought of having a grave where relatives are expected to come. My belief is that death is not the end and that we continue on in some form.So just as when I'm away at work my family don't stand and stare at my bed, when I've gone on to the next phase after death I don't want anybody to stare at a grave that I won't be in!

I would rather that they continue on as normal and talk to me as though I'm there - even if it's just in their thoughts. Maybe I'll be able to sense that.

Apart from that, after a while a grave becomes a burden to maintain. Eventually all graves will disappear anyway over time. Finally, you'll never be buried alive if you've been cremated!

I believe that it is pointless, and unnecessary to take up space on this planet after you are dead. I think that burial is ridiculously self serving (even though you're dead). Do you really believe that you will be forgotten without a headstone?

I think that eventually the time will come when cremation is your ONLY option. Eventually we have to run out of space.

As a ndu I will be cremated after I die. Everyday the earth is getting more crowded, why to hog space by being buried when all our like we consume earth resources.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
