The tips are prickly and uncomfortable against skin. Masking tape not only holds straw in place but also protects you against scratches. If you don't have access to real straw, you can use craft store straw.

Wear a checkered or plaid flannel shirt on top. Stuff the inside with soft T-shirts to give it bulk. Have straw sticking out the ends of your sleeves by attaching the ends to soft wristbands.
