Product Awareness, Customer Service When we answer a question here, we are able to attach a product that might help the asker. They can then easily purchase the product, or at least be more aware of what Amazon has to offer and might take a look at the website. I personally have purchased a product that I never knew about before in the process of answering questions here!

I didn't even know that I "needed" the product till I was told about it here. In web sales, getting the customer to the site is the first step in a sale. So with all of us nice, friendly and helpful answerers here, the public is getting a good impression (usually!) of Amazon itself, which will help build it as a popular site to shop.

Advertising There are the contextual adds that show up on the right hand side of the screen and also the products that you can attach to any answer. But for the most part, I think Askville is an experiment. If it gets insanely popular (like MySpace) the profit should materialize..

In most cases, the answer is no. They provide these services or features as a complement to their business models or to better enable their customers. While I don't work for Amazon, I suspect a service such as Askville further cements the sense of community they want to foster and probably supports some of the technology underpinnings they want to promote.

Links It looks like Amazon is adding Links that are based on the words within the question and answers to generate some revenue. They also have the product links that people can add which would help direct people to Amazon so you buy the product from them. With that this is still in Beta and I'm sure they will find other ways to help fund this site.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
