How long should I keep my child home with head lice?

For some reason lice is embarrassing to us, but try not to feel embarrassed. Most likely your child got lice from someone else at school. You can do everyone a favor by notifying the school.

Other parents will be able to catch it on their child earlier, rather than have their kids sit for days scratching until we notice there is a problem. Maybe no one else in the class has it, but maybe some kids who are in close contact with your child do. It is very contagious.

I would keep your child home until you are sure the lice are gone. The one time my niece came here with lice, we used the lice shampoo on each and everyone of us. We also washed everything in the house including bedding, pillow, the couch, towels and so on.

We made sure we got rid of it the first time. I would atleast keep your child home a few days. You just want to be sure the lice is gone.
