I run a daycare in my home. How long should I keep kids out with lice?

You will most likely get a different answer, depending on who you ask. I used to watch kids out of my home. Luckily we never had a lice issue.

We did get lice from my nieces years later. I kept my child home from school for about 2 or 3 days. I made sure the lice were gone and we actually bombed my house.

We used lice shampoo on every head in the house even if we did not find lice on the head. Some people will say two weeks is better to make sure the lice is gone for good. Since you can miss lice eggs and they will hatch and the whole cycle starts again.

If you prepare a letter to your parents and explain how to properly get rid of lice on the head and in the home, chances are keeping them away for three days should be good. Since my kids had to pay whether they came to me or not, I would hate to have a child miss two weeks. That is alot to ask for someone to miss two weeks of work.

Umm...i think you need to check out if the other parents checked ther kids. And if every body lose their lice you can open your daycare again :) (sorry for my bad english...).

It's very easy to spread lice from one child to another in a day care center. Taking preventive measures is the best way to keep lice out of the kids' hair. Parents should be strongly encouraged to wash their children's hair every day with anti-dandruff shampoo.

Also follow these guidelines: · Don't share hair brushes, combs, hats, scarves, hair bands, barrettes, helmets, dress-up clothes, coats, towels or pillows. · Keep the hair short. · Braid girls' hair or put it in a bun.

· Check heads regularly for lice. At this web site you will find more information: kidsheadlice.com/head-lice-prevention.html.

The first treatment should kill any mature lice and then the second treatment will kill any nits that may have hatched after. My concern with all of this was that between the first treatment a few might hatch and get passed on to a non infected child. I actually asked the dad to keep the little guy home until after the second treatment and he was fine with that.

He was very considerate and didn't want to inconvienience any of the other families. According to Public health you should keep checking your own children for up to two - three weeks because there might not be any visable signs ( freshly hatched lice are very very tiny and don't lay eggs until mature) of head lice ... but they still may have it. I kept checking all of my kids and my day care kids for weeks after the initial outbreak.

Two weeks later one other child had one mature louse and many many nits. So be careful!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
