They are correct - legally, you still owe the debt. The question is - is it yours and if so, do you feel morally obligated to pay it? If you do not feel morally obligated to pay the debt, write the collection agency a letter telling them that you are exercising your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to have them cease all further contact with you.
Send it signature required/return receipt requested. You should be able to find templates for this letter on the web.
The debt is off your credit report, and the statue of limitations prevents them from taking any legal action to collect the debt. Follow the advice of the prior writer about sending them a letter certified mail / return receipt requested telling them to cease and desist harassing you.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
