In her world, the first amendment means no one is allowed to disagree with what she says. She's kinda nuts if you haven't noticed.
Personally, I put Dr. Laura in equal league with Dr. Phil---fabricated media stars that truly DO NOT merit their current fame or salary from their media fame; they both are whack jobs I won't cry sad tears, should they drop off the TV and/or radio show biz for good. But I do have to agree with Dr. Laura: There is a brazen racial double-standard BLACKS have regarding ( and I HATE to use this politically correct term ) usage of ( wincing here ) the "N-word". Simply put: It's OK for BLACKS to spew the ( wincing ) "N-word" like hash out in THEIR free speech---and verbate further RACIST words regarding WHITES!
But society also holds that it's NOT OK for whites to have equal FREE SPEECH USAGE OF ( oh, gawd...here we go again ) the "N-word"! Dr. Laura is correct on this fact. Either society allows WHITES EQUAL approved use of the "N-word"---or society should demand BLACKS stop using THAT word, too.
On the side of logic and civility, I opt for the latter---and I'm NOT alone. Myrlie Evers-Williams, ( yes kids: she IS BLACK ) widow of slain NAACP leader, Edgar Evers---also feels BLACKS should STOP USING THE "N-word". She has an admirable---but laughable---means of trying to secure this goal.
But I DO respect Ms. Evers-Williams for the guts to take a stand on this issue---when we don't see Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrahakhan, Oprah----or even Obama---join her in this brave crusade. Here's the link, should YOU be interested in supporting Ms.
Evers-Williams: http://www.clarionledger.com/article/201... Take note: Dr. Phil is an employee of Harpo Productions; Oprah is his boss. And the link belongs to a Mississippi newspaper....imagine that, now why don't ya!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
