How would one administer melatonin to a 7 yr. old who doesn't swallow pills?

I have to wonder what a 7-year-old is doing taking melatonin. Is this a prescription? If so, have you taken him/her to another doctor for a second opinion?

I'd be cautious about giving something like this to one so young.

You can get melatonin in 1mg pills that you suck and they dissolve in the mouth. Some are mint flavored and some, I think cherry.

Hope I'm qualified to answer this, as I have absolutely no medical training whatsoever. However, I do take melatonin most nights as a sleep aid. I usually choke on the pills (my particular brand is flat with sharp edges) and so I just chew them up.

This doesn't exactly taste pleasant (rather like chewing on talcum powder) but doesn't taste horrible, either. A good "swish" of water and the taste is gone.

If you want to know something more about melatonin and its side effects, read the following article.

And as far as a "7 yr. Old who doesn't swallow pills" goes, if the kid really does need some sort of pill, put your foot down. Or does "wah-wah-wah" make you cave like a big wuss?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
