Singles ad in the newspaper Well, that was 24 years ago, pre internet dating. If a person wanted to run an ad in the 'singles' section, you just mailed it in and they assigned you a mailbox number. That way I could screen the people answering my ad.

I got four interesting letters. The first one was a factory/business owner. I answered his reply first..we dated a bit, then it came out he really had a wife tucked away in another city.

The second one sounded interesting. He owned a large boat, owned a few apartment complexes. Well, he turned out to be a little strange...tried to pencil me in between work and his kids activities.

The third one was a real charactor...an arial photographer. Come to find out, he was tied up with the Mafia. We went to his friends house, it had bullet holes along the front.

Long after we had parted ways, he showed up with a huge guitar...a Christmas present. By mid January, I got a call from a guy looking for payment. Weird.

The fourth one didn't impress me much at all. S letter had a lot of misspelled words, worked second shift in a factory, just getting over a break-up...I left him 'til last. Finally I gave him a call.

Found out he was a really nice guy. We spent a month talking on the phone every night, with me working days and him working nights. This guy just had the biggest heart.

Finally we met. That was it. We dated about a year, got married and just celebrated 23 happy years in September.

I almost didn't consider him...just an average working guy. Sources: My life .

Traffic stop! Yep, he was the cop and I was the driver. I didn't get a ticket, though!

But we didn't like each other very much at that point. I had made a turn, and had my turn signal on, but the turn signal had been smashed by a goofy kid and apparently the light bulb doesn't work in that situation. Who knew?!

LOL! So he stopped me for not using my turn signal. AND I got a lecture for not having changed my address on my license to my new house in the town where we both had recently moved to.

Later we were "forced" to work together due to our jobs, and I got over being annoyed at him for doing his job! *Poppet*'s Recommendations Will You Marry Me? : Popping the Question With Romance and Style Amazon List Price: $13.99 Used from: $1.99 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 2 reviews) .

Friends put us together I had met him briefly while he was married to his first wife. Then they sort of drifted out of our circle. A year later, he shows up divorced.

And my friends kept trying to get me interested in him. The circle we traveled in was the Society for Creative Anachronism, a group that recreates many aspects of life in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. So ours was an interesting courtship, and our wedding was purely Medieval.

But before we got to that point, I spent a lot of time trying to run this guy off, and my friends spent a lot of time trying to get me to go out with him. Well, turns out they were right -- eleven years later, we're very happy together (we've been married for eight).

I don't actually remember the first time we met. My wife and I grew up about a mile from each other and have known each other all of our lives. We actually started coming into frequent contact through our jobs and things took off from there.

She was working at a funeral home (where I later went to work) and I was working at a florist and would occasionally take flowers to the funeral home. Once I took the flowers in I started going into the office where she worked and those visits just started getting longer and more frequent. Sources: my experience .

Through friends, but at a bar really I had friends he lived with and we met one night after going to the bar at their apartment. Then we "re-met" at a birthday party - it happened we both had the same birthday. We had no interest in each other until one night we were all hanging out and he kissed me because my best friend and I had rated how all the guys we knew kissed, and I said I couldn't rate him... we've pretty much been together ever since.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
