Nothing extravagant I’d like my boyfriend to give me something that I can truly use. I recently had a birthday. He asked for suggestions of gifts to get me.

I gave him a list of things that I’d really like. I received a much too expensive necklace. I love the jewelry, but it’s impractical.

I’m not allowed to wear jewelry to work other than a watch and a wedding ring. I work 12 hour shifts, and I don’t put jewelry on for my 1 1/2 hours of free time before going to bed. I’d much rather have a "winding down" gift, like bath salts, candles, and a relaxing CD to listen to.

A DVD that we could enjoy together would be nice. And I'm always open to receiving a new weapon. Either way, I’d know that he was getting a gift appropriate to me.

Instead, I feel like another household bill... throw enough money at it, and it will be resolved. Gifts Honestly right at this moment in time I would love for my BF to scrape, prep and paint my bathroom ceiling. That would be a great gift. Right now.

Okay.. I'm going to be completely honest, knowing that it makes me sound pretty shallow....and I'm usually not, lol. I would like for my husband to buy me something very extravagant, like a diamond necklace let's say, because I am working full time with him and I don't get paid a salary and I've had to give up the wonderfully easy (by comparison) schedule I've grown accustomed to while I had the pleasure of raising our daughter. It's been a struggle for me to work outside the home and still maintain our house and meals, yadda yadda.

I wish that the mere fact that I am doing the right thing by working with my husband would be enough for me, I honestly do. I wish that his telling me that he appreciates me was all I wanted. But the truth is, I would like a symbol of his thankfulness so that when the day is rough for me I can look at it and remember why I'm doing what I'm doing.....because we're a team, and my teamwork is appreciated.
