I am buying an internet-ready Vizio. Will my wifi tv send a signal to my laptop so I can connect it to the internet?

I don't think TV sets will act as a WiFi repeater. What you should get is a Broadband WiFi router, this way you will have multiple wired ports to which you can connect your computer to, and then use the WiFi connection for your TV and other devices that might also be WiFi enabled. You might talk with your DSL provider and see if they offer an upgraded DSL modem that provides WiFi access, this way they will still be on the hook to provide you customer service on your new equipment, and not tell you to call someone else should you have issues, etc.

Thank you for your response. What made me think it had WiFi is the Vizio specs say, "Built in WiFi 802.11N dual band. " Since the tv will remain stationary I was hoping to hook it to the dsl modem and then get a WiFi signal from the tv to the laptop so I could move around.

Maybe there is something I could buy to add to the tv to send a signal to my laptop? When I had a desktop with a router sending the signal to my laptop, I was not able to successfully Skype with my son who was in Afghanistan. When I ditched the router and hooked the laptop directly to the dsl modem, Skype worked fine.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
