Gently From wiki: They are natural hunters with an excellent ability to take training (American Breed Standard, AKC). Not only are they great pointers, but they are excellent retrievers as well. They will retrieve on land and in the water, making the most of their natural instincts.

However, they must be trained gently and without harsh commands or strong physical correction, as they have sensitive temperaments and can be easily damaged if trained too harshly (Gottlieb, 1992). Vizslas are excellent swimmers and often swim in pools if one is available. Like all gun dogs, Vizslas require a good deal of exercise to remain healthy and happy.

Thirty minutes to an hour of exercise daily in a large off-leash area is optimal (Coffman 1992). The Vizsla thrives on attention, exercise, and interaction. It is highly intelligent, and enjoys being challenged and stimulated, both mentally and physically.

Vizslas that do not get enough attention and exercise can easily become destructive or hyperactive. Under-stimulated Vizslas may also become depressed or engage in obsessive-compulsive behaviours such as persistent licking (Coffman 1992). Vizslas are very gentle dogs that are great around children.

Vizslas are wonderful dogs! Congratulations on your new addition! Vizslas are beautiful, sweet-tempered dogs.

I know a breeder and am around hers often as they are in my agility class with my Border Collie mix. I just love them! However, they are high energy dogs that can become destructive if not given plenty of exercise.

I would definitely recommend crate training. A Vizsla is a fairly large dog, and could do a number on your home if left unsupervised. You could confine it to the kitchen or laundry room, but the crate is much better.

I didn’t crate train my first two rescue dogs and I wish I had. They are great in the house, but my third dog was crate trained , and he loves his crate. He goes right in when we are leaving and even goes in just to rest during the day.

He feels happy and secure in there. When you come home from being out, let him out of his crate and take him outside immediately. Wait for him to go, even if it takes a little while.

Then praise him profusely! Give him lots of loves and make a big deal out of it! When you are home with him take him out about every half hour or so while he is a puppy.

Puppies have to go a lot! I hope you have a fenced in yard, but if not, put him on a leash for sure. Again give him praise every time he goes!

You can never give him too much! If he goes in the house, just pick him up and take him outside. You may say no in a firm voice, but don’t yell at him.

He won’t understand and may think it is bad to go to the bathroom at all. Jut pick him right up and take him outside again. I know, you’re getting tired of doing this!

It really shouldn’t last long though. My first dog was the only one who was not trained when I got her and she was a puppy. She is ten now and I hardly remember training her.

She learned really fast, and hopefully yours will too. You can put a collar and leash on her and try walking her around, but she is too young to use a choke collar. Just use a regular buckle collar, or it may be easier to use a gentle learder if you wish.

They have all kinds of obedience classes for puppies now. Most of them are for general socialization of the puppy and for instruction for the owner about training. I think that is wonderful!

The younger they get socialized, learn good manners and just have a great time playing together, the better. It will make them much better adult dogs. They even have teen or adolescent classes.

They are fairly expensive though I'm sure, so you can do it on your own if you wish. You may want to try ocassional doggie day care. So many options!

I hope this information helps! Have fun with your puppy! It makes me want to have one :-) Temperament Bred to be a close-working gun dog, the vizsla has the energy to range all day.It is a true hunter at heart, a talented pointer and always on the lookout for bird scent.

It can become frustrated and destructive if not given adequate exercise. Most can be stubborn, some can be timid and others can be overly excitable. It is gentle, affectionate and sensitive, and can be protective. The vizsla makes a good companion for an active owner who spends a lot of time outdoors.

Upkeep The vizsla needs a lot of strenuous exercise every day. This is an active breed that cannot be expected to meet its energy requirements with a short walk or within a small yard. It needs to be jogged or allowed to run in a large enclosed area.

Otherwise, its needs are minimal. Its coat requires little care except an occasional brushing to remove dead hair. It can live outside in warm climates, given adequate shelter, but should sleep indoors on cold nights.

It needs a soft bed. Sources: http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogprofile.do?id=1820 Video This is so cute! Vizsla puppy "taking a bath"!

Where do I get the best advise on raising a puppy.

How does one train a puppy to go on a wee wee pad.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
