Your problem is you are debating with her about who is right. Unless this is something that involves your children, then do what Happy-2 said and just Smile, nod your head and go back to what you were doing. You can have your own values and opinions and she can have her own values and opinions.
You end up arguing about something that neither of you are going to agree on so why argue about it. You can just say, "oh, ok" and move on. It's just acknowledging that she said something.
You don't have to believe what she says, just don't pick it up to argue.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
