There is no law or regulation that makes it illegal for you to be hired...... BUT a weapon charge along with a violence charge of any degree will make a lot of employers stay away from you. All you can do is complete your probation, take ownership of your past, continue to try to find employment in places where your experiences would be an asset such as public defenders office, advocate groups, you can even try to volunteer at the local police or sheriff office... it will NOT be easy, there are a lot of people that will tell you no but it is all up to you....
I can't get a job in my field for a charge alot less worse then that, non-violent, non theft, and I can't get a job in my field, so honestly no you have no chance. Worst part is I paid $500 to have it expunged a year ago and it still sometimes shows up.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
